10 prompt examples for product photography
Ready-to-use prompts for generating clean, professional-looking product shots — from minimalist studio setups to lifestyle scenes.
Product photography is one of the most useful applications of AI image generation. You can mock up packaging concepts, generate placeholder shots for a Shopify store, or produce social media content in minutes. Here are ten prompt templates that consistently produce clean, usable product shots.
Each template uses placeholder text in [brackets] — replace with your specific product. They work in both Nano Banana 2 and Pro, but Pro will give you noticeably cleaner edges and better material rendering.
1. Clean white background — e-commerce style
A [product] photographed against a seamless pure white background, soft even studio lighting from above, no shadows, centered composition, ultra-sharp focus, product photography for e-commerce.
2. Floating on color
A [product] floating in the center of the frame against a soft pastel [color] background, soft directional light from the upper left casting a small shadow below, minimalist composition, modern product photography.
3. On marble surface, top-down
Top-down photograph of a [product] resting on a white marble surface, soft natural light from a window on the left, slight steam or mist around it for atmosphere, editorial product photography.
4. Held in hand
A close-up of a hand holding a [product], shallow depth of field with the background softly blurred, warm late-afternoon window light from the right, lifestyle product photography, shot on 50mm.
5. Minimalist on stone pedestal
A [product] displayed on a small rough-textured stone pedestal, plain neutral gray background, single soft spotlight from above creating a gentle pool of light around the product, gallery-style presentation.
6. Lifestyle — coffee table

8. On reflective black surface
A [product] photographed on a glossy black surface that reflects it perfectly, dark gradient background, single key light from the upper right, premium product photography, dramatic and luxurious.
9. Outdoor lifestyle
A [product] resting on a flat rock at the edge of a forest stream, golden hour light filtering through pine trees, shallow depth of field with the water gently blurred behind, outdoor lifestyle product photography.
10. Packaging mockup, three-quarter view
A three-quarter angle view of a [product] packaging on a clean cream background, soft top-down studio lighting, subtle shadow on the right, sharp focus on the front label, professional packaging mockup photography.
Tips for consistent results
- Always specify the surface — 'on a [surface]' anchors the composition.
- Specify lighting direction ('from above', 'from the left'). 'Soft lighting' alone is too vague.
- If the product has a brand name, the model may garble the text. Generate first, then composite the real label in.
- Run the same prompt 3 to 5 times. Composition varies between runs — pick the best one.
- For hero images, switch to Nano Banana Pro. For thumbnails or social posts, Nano Banana 2 is fine.
